Intravenous Access and Therapy

This course provides various health care professionals with an opportunity to learn the theory and practical skills necessary to perform safe and competent venipuncture and provide intravenous therapy, both peripherally and centrally.
This includes:
- overview of infusion therapy
- evidence-based practice approach to assessment and monitoring infusion therapy
- Setting up and initiating peripheral infusion therapy
- Clinical decision making for central venous access
- TPN, transfusion therapy, pain management, and other infusion therapies
- Special populations and special applications including intraossious infusion
The course includes all required supplies and materials, no need to purchase an additional supply kit on top of the course fee.
This course includes the opportunity to participate in live peripheral IV start opportunities on a voluntary basis. Please note that there is an additional equipment fee for live practice of $15.00 per attempt. Additional details will be provided the first day of class.
A course completion certificate is provided after the course, however it is the responsibility of the employing agency to certify the participant based on facility policies.
